Two very different bedrooms for two very different stars in AD this month. The juxtaposition of these two are so East Coast/ West Coast... gay/ straight, yet they still both manage to prove the same thing: Just because you spend a boatload on a decorator, don't mean you're good to go.
We are going to go out on a limb and say that these head-to-toe decorator bedrooms are a bit of, well, a snooze. There just never seems to be anything special or unique when a decorator takes over, and although it is clear that serious money was spent... everything looks oddly ordinary. Sure, there are some stunning features. We love the grey flannel headboard in Will Ferrell's minimal modern art filled home, and truly think the silver Mylar ceiling in Elton John and David Frunish's bedroom is genius (It's like looking up at a reflecting pond!) But we just wish that the two somehow could "Freaky Friday" morph and mix together and not be so obvious. Okay. Humble opinion noted. Do with it what you will. Xo.

I like the Will Ferrel apt. A bedroom should be a snooze -- that's where you sleep!! But agree, re Sir Elton. The whole place, not just the bedroom, is so unsuccessful, IMO. The landscaping is so boring and the lawn sculpture looks like such an after thought. I don't see the thought process here beyond painting everything white and then throwing a bunch of colorful art pieces together. MLB is so one note.
