Happy New Year From Smarter Alec

This year has been very exciting for us. Mostly because it was the year SmarterAlec.net was born. We started this blog because we wanted to figure out a way to combine our two loves of design and writing. But we also wanted to create a decor blog that DIDN'T just relay information in a non-biased way. We WANTED to be biased. We WANTED to have an opinion, because we think that is what great design/decor/art/life is about: finding what you like and having the conviction to stand by it.  Yes, we wanted to show people great things, but then we wanted people to decide for themselves whether they think it's great or not. And for those people who are terrified of interior design, we wanted them to see how that is in some way, being terrified of life. Making a choice to live in beauty, regardless of your income... making a choice to create a beautiful home for yourself shows that you believe in yourself. In life. Unless you have really bad taste, then everything you think is wrong and you should just do what we tell you to do.
